"The whole history of these books [the Gospels] is so defective and doubtful that it seems vain to attempt minute enquiry into it"
"Christianity neither is, nor ever was a part of the common law."
"If we did a good act merely from love of God and a belief that it is pleasing to Him, whence arises the morality of the Atheist? ...Their virtue, then, must have had some other foundation than the love of God."
Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because if there be one he must approve of the homage of reason more than that of blindfolded fear."
Thomas Jefferson

A place to consolidate
This Blog is mainly a place to put my video's on Brights and the secular civic issue. You can always subscribe to my youtube account but then you will have to sit through my other video's and video responses.
A Poem of mine
Standing once in the halls of learning and education
I came across a fundamentalist preaching to the crowd
The last thing I would hope to see in this learned location
He was saving souls and fulfilling vows.
Though he struck me as one filled with haste
As if we all had to be saved and there was no time to waste
He was that new age Christian so loving in his speech
He spoke of love and eternal life
He did not mention the blood at his religion’s feet
He shied away from the decades of religious strife.
He spoke of a love that waited for us all
And then turned around and spoke of hell’s fiery fall.
Somehow despite my wishes to get away fast
He latched onto me with his acidic view
And, finally giving up, I turned at last
To confront the vileness that his mouth did spew
I must admit I had given in to anger
And turned to him, this unwanted stranger
I said to him;
“If one should doubt the page,
one should doubt the Book.
If errors have crept in with age
then what is to say it is not all gobbledygook?
You look for comfort and feel the divine
I live without and I am doing just fine
You with your beliefs so confused and jumbled,
what guide do you have on your path for truth?
Believe you that Christ wants the humble?
But deny the words "A tooth for a tooth"
I do not think it is god that guides your eye
except perhaps the god named Belie
You are no more Christian than the great Buddha
A sickly religion of one, a billion with the same disease
a phlegmatic mixture of Wicca and Judah
that reads "Gods" instructions however they please
Your true crime is not your ignoring the word of god
But the power you give to outlooks even more flawed
Though you will die and cause little trouble,
others come emboldened by numbers
Who live their lives in a fanatical bubble.
They gain power from your intellectual slumber.
Those are the ones running the diabolic inquisitions
and they did it with your intellectual ancestors, silent permission.
They believe in every last biblical word
and sometime I wonder if you have thought it out?
Has the fact never occurred?
Has the brain of yours never gone that route?
Without the fanatics shedding the innocent blood
the bible would have been lost...every page....every word.
I stopped for breath
And the speaker did reply;
“Friend and brother you speak of so much that is not right,
But wouldn’t you rather listen, then not listen and die?
I bring to you the path to the eternal life
Without my words you will perish into the night
But from the words of the lord I can give you eternal sight.
“I hold in my hands”, says he while raising a book
“The way to glory and riches divine
Come closer friend it would behoove you to look,
Of this work filled with the answers of our time.”
I found that his eyes were filled with fire
I almost hesitated to destroy his desire.
“Did you not know” says the street preacher
“That this book contains the truth as given from above
And it applies to all of gods creatures.
Any pain we felt was justified and came from love
It was needed to keep us in line during times long past.
But now that our savior is here we can know peace at long last”
Yet I spoke.
“Who are you to call me friend,
and then spout out your dogmatic decree?”
To spend my time with better men
To move our people to a better destiny
Is why I came to this scholastic place.
Not to banter with fools about imaginary grace!”
“I have heard your story before
I have read more than your packaged verse
I have seen the pages filled with terror and gore
I have seen a book filled with incestuous lust
That is my guide to a better tomorrow?
Better I stay lost than such a book follow!”
“You in your innocent when you preach of heaven
Leave the majority of world to rot in your hell
For every fifteen who die today the devil gets eleven
The numbers alone are reason enough to rebel
So keep your sickening thoughts that send the majority of us into fire
And keep your twisted demon god who looks to me to be a liar!”
“No child of mine was born full of sin
Nor did I ever ask for someone to get nailed to a cross
It would seem to me you can not win
You should go now and see that your cause is lost
I will not convert to your religion of ignorance
Why should I when it does not give truth a chance?”
That being said the evangelical head,
that once was filled with such fire,
hung low at the words that I had said.
He sought for way to make me out to be the liar
Finding none and with his audience now gone
His countenance became quite withdrawn.
But I had no illusion of victory
Because I knew he would only move to another spot
and start preaching again what he tried to preach to me
“I had not converted anyone, though that was never my task
And I would have told him this if he had only asked..
Though we may not know why ever star has its course
We know enough to free ourselves from ancient chains
Thought we may not know everything about the source
We know it did not have a jewish name.
notYaweh, not Chaifi or Odin nor Osiris and his wife
are necessary to explain the start of life.
And though we are not bound as in old days
To bloody rituals and ignorant practices
That which we are is better than the old ways
A new people moved higher, and still blessed
With this ability to move aside the works of years past
And move forward to a condition previously unsurpassed.
